What is a Jackfruit?



Jackfruit is an absolutely one of a kind tropical fruit. It has a unique shape and size that can’t be determine and measured. It has a light green like outer surface with flat looking spikes which is pretty similar to a durian fruit in a way. The jackfruit has a sweet taste for its arils (bulbs). It’s very rich in energy, dietary fiber, minerals, and vitamins. Jackfruit grows well under rainy climates and tropical humid but is rarely able to survive in cold and frosty conditions. Today, Jackfruit is widely cultivated in the tropical regions of Malaysia, Thailand, India, Indonesia and Brazil for its fruit, seeds, and wood.

What Are The Health Benefits of a Jackfruit?


Jackfruit is made of soft, easily digestible flesh (arils) made up of simple sugars like fructose and sucrose that when eaten replenishes energy and revitalizes the body instantly. Jackfruit is also rich in dietary fiber, which makes it a good bulk laxative. Its help with constipation and its fiber content can protect the colon mucous membrane by binding to and eliminating cancer-causing chemicals in the colon. It’s one of the rare fruits that is rich in a group of B-complex vitamins. Its contains very high amounts of vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine), niacin, riboflavin, and folic acid.

Jackfruit can be used as a substitute for meat. When unripe (green), it is remarkably similar in texture to chicken. Like tofu, the flavour is mild to non-existent, which makes it an excellent base for other flavours.
